Smart is an affordable self-service journey concept easily identifiable by its bright colours.

Smart is practical and economical, but doesn’t cut corners when it comes to traveller comfort, with Frau reclining leather seats, individual electric sockets, individual tables for most travellers, and free Wi-Fi in all coaches, including access to Italolive, the on-board portal with live TV.

There is a small Snack Area in coach 7 where travellers may purchase espresso coffee, cold drinks and snacks at competitive prices from self-service vending machines.

New: Eataly menu now available in Smart
In order to meet our traveller needs, Italo brings also in Smart the three Italobox menu "Gustoso", "Orto" and "Tagliere" on sales during launch and dinner time. Also new, Italosnack at request during the entire journey. In Smart you can book your favourite menu 'on board' at special reduced price since service doesn't include wine and coffee.

Smart Cinema Let the Show Go On
Smart choice: you also have the option of purchasing a ticket for the Cinema coach! You can chose the comfort and privacy of an area with just 39 seats located at the front or back of the train so that other travellers will not be passing through, with entertainment on eight 19-inch high definition screens with audio plugs for headphones distributed by Italo staff.

Programming in the Cinema coach is designed to take the features of your journey into account:

on trains which make intermediate stops, programming consists of Medusa films and current affairs programmes scheduled to make sure that you can enjoy them regardless of where you get on and off.
direct trains feature screenings of Medusa’s best movies; programming will be announced in advance.

In Smart this technology allows you to go online and connect to the Italolive onboard portal with entertainment programming including live television: this is at no extra charge, using a Wi-Fi connection.
