With its immense beauty, Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world. During your weekend trip to Rome, make sure to see destinations like the Imperial Forums and the Colosseum, a glimpse into the glorious Roman era, and St. Peter and the Vatican Museums, not to mention the Pantheon monument, which you can visit for free, and finally, the Trevi Fountain, newly restored thanks to the investments of the historic Italian fashion house Fendi.
To take in the breathtaking panorama of the rooftops of Rome, go up to the Janiculum hill; to mix in with the true Romans head to Testaccio; to find the secret jewels, our advice is to look for the Coppedè district or the Orange Garden; while in the evening, get lost among the alleys of Monti and the taverns of Trastevere.
But Rome is also shopping. Around Piazza di Spagna there are some of the most beautiful streets in the world, such as via Condotti and via del Babuino, where you can purchase luxury “Made in Italy” items from fashion houses like Armani, Dolce and Gabbana and Prada. Via del Corso, on the other hand, is home to international chains and true open-air shopping centre, which extends from Piazza Venezia to Piazzale Flaminio. We absolutely recommend visiting on during a Christmas or New Year's weekend to take in the installations and lights, which decorate the city centre and outshining the rest of the world.
Deciding where to eat in Rome is only a matter of choice: an excellent cacio e pepe or amatriciana will make you take a dip in the most enjoyable cuisine of Lazio. For authentic Jewish cuisine, check out the Ghetto, for the trendiest and youngest places, and inexpensive trattorias, head to the districts of Pigneto and San Lorenzo, or the new area between Garbatella and Ostiense, which offer everything from Castelli wine to good sushi Japanese.
The capital is also a city of great events: don’t miss the opening of the extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy put on by Pope Francis on December 8th and get to Rome by train to attend the papal audiences.
