Traveling in Genoa

Genoa is the Superb, Genoa is the pesto, the focaccia, the Aquarium, the Caruggi and the Palazzo Ducale. Genoa is a city in Northern Italy that almost looks like Southern Italy. In Genoa it is difficult to find convenient and cheap parking, so it is advisable to arrive by train. The Piazza Principe station is central and not far from the Porto Antico and the alleys of the center, which can also be easily reached on foot. Genoa is a city known above all for its port but rich in history, hidden treasures and suggestive corners. The history of Genoa is told along Via Garibaldi and the Rolli, homes of the noble Genoese families rich in works of art. The ancient maritime republic offers many testimonies of its past but also modern works, such as the Bigo, which make it a capital of modern Italian architecture. Walking through the city you can admire noble palaces and ancient churches, the characteristic alleys (caruggi) of the old city, visit the museums, the Old Port and the symbols of the new Genoa: the Aquarium and the Biosphere. In the historic center, partly a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Caruggi, ancient medieval alleys and the Creuze, narrow streets enclosed between sumptuous and ancient buildings, are worth a visit. You can admire the Royal Palace, the Spinola Palace, the Ducal Palace, Piazza De Ferrari, the Carlo Felice Theater, the Villa del Principe and the Cathedral of San Lorenzo which, rising on Piazza San Lorenzo, dominates the internal panorama of the center where see the numerous taverns in the alleys to taste the typical Genoese cuisine. Also worth visiting is the Galata Museo del Mare, the Nazario Sauro submarine and the Lanterna.
Are there beaches in Genoa?
Outside the center, you can experience the atmosphere of the Cinque Terre, in the old fishermen's quarter of Boccadasse, where there is one of the most beautiful beaches in the city. Boccadasse is a small village within the city where you can admire the small boats stranded on the beach, the rusty gates and balconies overlooking a breathtaking view from the Mediterranean area. To find other beaches you have to get to Quarto, Quinto and Nervi or take a boat to San Fruttuoso in the Bay of Camogli for a tan in front of a 10th century monastery. A real paradise to see a typical Ligurian marina. Camogli is a very characteristic village where the sea, the beach, the shops and fish restaurants make it an unmissable destination not only for the Genoese but especially for those traveling as a couple.

How many days to spend in Genoa?
Genoa is not a small city, although it is possible to visit its sites of interest in 2 or 3 days, but it offers many things to do and booking a stay in the ancient maritime republic is also ideal because it is a city that is difficult to do. forget. Traveling in Florence

Talking about cities of art takes on its full meaning only when you visit Florence, a work of art to discover thanks to Italo Treno, which will take you directly to the cradle of the Renaissance!
Arriving by train in Florence is worth the trip: the Santa Maria Novella station is located a few steps from the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, a masterpiece of the Florentine Renaissance and recognizable for its white marble facade. Inside you can admire its museum, which is located in the cloister of the basilica. With a pleasant walk you will easily reach the historic center, where the jewel of Florence will open up before your eyes. You will walk among splendid sixteenth-century palaces such as Palazzo Antinori and Palazzo Strozzi, until the cobbled streets will take you to Piazza del Duomo, in front of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and Giotto's bell tower. You have arrived at the most iconic place in the city, admire the red dome by Filippo Brunelleschi from 1436 and the white, pink and green marble facade of the bell tower. From its top you can admire an unparalleled view of the city and the surrounding hills. In front of the Duomo, reserve part of your admiration for the Romanesque Baptistery of San Giovanni.
Another nerve center of the city is the nearby Piazza della Repubblica, dominated by the Colonna dell'Abbondanza. This square has always been used for trade and housed the Old Market. Continuing your walk, follow via dei Calzaiuoli towards Piazza della Signoria, the center of social life in Florence where art is the master. The square is in fact dominated by the fourteenth-century Palazzo Vecchio, today the seat of the Municipality, and by the Loggia dei Lanzi, an open-air art gallery that houses Renaissance sculptures by Giambologna, Benvenuto Cellini and Agnolo Gaddi. The Fountain of Neptune and the copy of Michelangelo's David complete the picture of the most important attractions of this square. Continuing along the Piazzale degli Uffizi, adjacent to Piazza della Signoria, you will arrive at the Uffizi Gallery, the renowned collection of Renaissance art that has helped make Italy famous throughout the world.
If you don't have time to admire this enchantment - which takes several hours to appreciate - just a few more steps and you will find yourself on the Lung'Arno. From here you can already see another inevitable passage of a trip to Florence, the Ponte Vecchio, dotted with goldsmith shops and workshops. Once you cross the bridge you will have entered the so-called Oltrarno and you can finally rest by immersing yourself in the green heart of the Boboli Gardens, a few steps from another important Florentine palace, Palazzo Pitti. If, on the other hand, you prefer to continue the patrol, do not hesitate to get lost in the narrow streets of the lively Santo Spirito district, where you will find numerous artisan shops and small shops where you can indulge your desire for shopping.
Another good reason to enjoy a trip to Florence is its gastronomy. The center of Florence is populated with taverns and restaurants of all kinds, you will have no difficulty in finding a place to refresh yourself after a long walk.
If you are a meat lover, you certainly cannot miss the heroine of Florentine cuisine, the steak. How to recognize the real one? She must be tall, freshly cooked on the griddle and an average weight of 2 kg! Not even vegetarians will be left with a dry mouth, given that another fundamental dish of Tuscan cuisine is ribollita, the vegetable and bread soup (strictly Florentine, that is, without salt).
The artistic and cultural wealth of Florence is so vast that it is impossible to settle for just one day to visit it: with Italo Treno it is so easy to reach it that we are sure you will repeat the experience!
